January Minute Message

Fellow Federationists:

Best wishes for a happy, healthy, successful New Year to everyone.

Although the New Year is in its early stages, as usual, NFBMD is off to a quick start.  The Diabetic Action Network Committee held its first support call on January 7.  All of the participants, even the experienced diabetics, learned something new. These calls will be held on the first Thursday of each month at 7 pm.  The call-in number is 641-715-3272.  The access code is 720125.  Help us spread the word to diabetics or people interested in diabetes.

December Minute Message

Fellow Federationists:

Many thanks to everyone who attended and participated in our very successful 2015 State Convention.  We reached our goal of at least 25 new members and were delighted to have registered 344 people.  Check the website, nfbmd.org, for the 2015 Presidential Report.  Don’t miss the panel “Living the Life you Want: Three Federationists Demonstrate How it is Done.”  The audio of this panel will be on nfbmd.org under Success Stories.

August Minute Message From The Movement

Fellow Federationist:

I have sad news.  We recently lost two members of our Federation family.

July Minute Message from the Movement

Fellow Federationist: The 75th Anniversary Convention of the National Federation of the Blind was outstanding. Breaking the World Guinness Book of Records for the largest umbrella mosaic will be something that we can all talk about for years. It was a great symbol of how we raise expectations for blind people every day.

June Minute Message from the Movement

Fellow Federationist: Happy Father’s Day to all of the Dads and Granddads. It is not too late to buy that gift for Dad or for the graduate in your life or to commemorate an anniversary and help the NFBMD by using Amazon Smile. If you have not already set up your Amazon Smile account to benefit NFBMD, use this link to get started: http://smile.amazon.com/ch/52-1301033.

April Message from the Movement

Fellow Federationists:

Many thanks to all who helped make the 2015 session of the Maryland General Assembly a very productive one for the blind of Maryland.  Gov. Hogan appropriated $250,000 to continue the work of the CENA, the Center of Excellence in Nonvisual Access to Education, Public Information, and Commerce.  The Maryland General Assembly kept that money in the budget.  We look forward to the great things that CENA will accomplish, especially its plan to provide access to the over 10 million books in the HathiTrust.
